Washington DC

At the beginning of May we took a family trip to Washington DC. It only takes about 3 1/2 hours to get to our nation’s capital. I love how close we live to so many historical and scenic sights. We didn’t really plan our trip very well so we wound up walking a lot and not getting to see quite as much as we would have had we mapped it all out before hand. But it was still fun and now that we’ve been there once we have a better idea of what we need to do next time. Wont it be fun to study rockets with William and then take a day trip to the Smithsonian museum to see them all in real life?

William did great on the ride up there. He babled, played and slept.

We drove to Arlington National Cemetery and ate our lunch in the parking lot. Not the most scenic or sanitary place to light, but William seemed to enjoy it and so did his daddy.

We watched the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. The timing and precision of the gaurds was amazing to see.

These two pictures are of the mast of the "USS Maine". The sinking of the Maine was what propelled the US into the Spanich American War.
