Grandma Lehr

My Grandma Lehr went to be with the Lord yesterday evening. She was sitting up on the side of her bed with mom's arms around her. Mom was saying Psalm 23 to her and that is when the Lord took her. She left her old, worn out shell and, in an instant, entered into the presence of her almighty Savior. Death had no sting. The final enemy was vanquished, and Grandma is forever safe in the everlasting arms.

A Plane Ride and Fun with Daddy

William did pretty well on the plane to and from St. Louis. Coming to St. Louis Russ was with us so that was nice. However, by the time the plane took off it was William's bed time and he was pretty cranky most of the trip.

Coming home to NC it was just William and I. He did better on that one since it was in the middle of the day. The plane was delayed over two hours and I had my doubts about how he would do. But he did GREAT!! He loves looking at people so much that all I had to do was walk him in the stroller up and down the concourse and he was as happy as a lark. He tried to catch everyone's eye and then he would smile and laugh, wave his arms and kick his feet. It was fun to watch.

Russ is enrolled in a master's program at Florida Tech so he had quite a bit of homework to do while he was there. As you can imagine William wanted to help his Daddy as much as possible.

St. Louis Zoo

When we were in St. Louis William visited the Zoo for the first time. The weather man said it was supposed to me warm but it was quite cold and rainy. However, we did our best to enjoy it and I think we succeded!

First Birthday: The cake

Of course we've got lots of pictures of William's first birthday. He had one in St. Louis on the actual day of his birthday and then one in North Carolina several weeks later.

I wanted to make a nursery rhyme cake since that's the theme of his nursery. I found a picture of a humpty dumpty cake on the internet and with some helpful advice came up with this.

First he had the cake,

then he had the ice cream.
